Character's Full Name: Marshall "Mars" Kevin Dacey

Character Age: 22
Physical Description: Mars is a tall thin young man who stands at six foot two. He has a bit of a baby face, and lively brown eyes that always give away his emotions, its easiest to tell his moods by catching his eyes. He currently has long shaggy brown hair which he will be cutting off once he gets knighted. A promise to himself that he wouldn't cut his hair until he found a better job for himself. He is ALWAYS clean shaven, his facial hair never grows in without being patchy so he keeps his face constantly shaved.
He likes to dress in modern mixes of clothes with older styles thrown in. Pirate shirts with blue jeans, and a bandanna tied around his knee. Random things. He can usually pull off whatever he wears, having a vain streak he tends to try and look as nice as he can, while trying to stand out.
He has no scars, but he has a tattoo on his lower leg a star turning into ravens. Mars figures himself that it was just a whim, he doesn't rememeber getting it It was sometime after his 21st birthday so it was likely a drunken choice but who knows.

Character History (Pre-Veil): Marshall's life started out pretty normal. His parents were average people, his father was a banker and his mother worked real estate. Growing up his father had always told him he was special and would make strange things happen, dancing lights around his room when he was scared or just telling him stories that seemed to wild for a banker too know. He was the one that took to calling the boy Mars opposed to Marshall. When he was 15 his mother got pregnant and had a little girl named Melody. Melody was only 3 months old when their mother just snapped in the dead of the night. Mars had woke to the sound of the baby crying and realized neither parent was answering the cry so he begrudgingly went into the nursery where he found his mother standing silently in the corner of the room. When he flipped on the light she was covered in blood holding a baseball bat. His sister was off to the side crying and instinct told him to grab the girl and run.
He barely missed getting the bat to the back of the head. Moving as fast as he could down the steps with the infant in his arms he got to the street being chased by her. The neighbors had heard him scream when she swung at him and nearly got the baby when he got outside. The police arrived soon. By morning he and his sister were split apart, his sister sent to his aunt's house and him to his grandmothers. She was too old for a baby and the aunt didn't want to deal with a teenage boy who was likely traumatized. When his father was buried that was when he started to realize that he was more like his father, he could just make things happen. It started with those dancing lights of his youth. He cold make them dance too.
Though his later teens were more awkward he learned to just not question things, to smile even when things seemed bad. Despite his grandmother's urgings he refused therapy, he figured he didn't need it. He just focused on trying to be a brighter light for others. He wanted to make others happy to fill the void inside of himself. He was sick often which left him with plenty of time to work on making his lights dance. At 17, his grandmother caught him making the lights dance and realized her son had never told him what he was or about their family line. So she sat him down and without lifting a hand made all of the candles around her light. When he mastered his first spell she gave him the gift of a new born black kitten, who she talked him into naming Venus as a gag on his name. Over the next six months she helped him work to get a little stronger with his growing craft, and to learn to trust in his pet as she would be a large help to him. But as life did to him, as things seemed amazing tragedy struck.
His grandmother passed in her sleep, peacefully but in debt which he had not known.
He took to working odd jobs to keep himself and Venus fed but he just could not afford it himself and lost the house. As time passed he worked and eventually decided if he wanted to get stronger and do good for others he needed more means. So he took to practicing his craft with a small time group of do gooders, who didn't really afford him much in growth outside of just in his own craft. So he pact up within a year or two of joining them and made his way to bigger things. And what better way then through the knighthood he had heard a bit of through the former group. So, he made his way to try and join, he figured it couldn't hurt anyway.
Personality and Psychology:
Marshall is at the very base a sweet guy. He always wants the best for those around him and even those he does not really know. A firm believer in 'life is too short for sadness.' His father had always been a charismatic out going man and Mars has spent most of his life around his dad and took after him in that respect. Even in the worst moods he will force a smile and try to be a gentlemen. Simply because his problems should not be brought on an anyone else.
Past the surface he shows he has a few deep mental scars, first being the reoccurring nightmares of the night his mother snapped. That night has haunted him since it happened. He relives it in dreams at least once a month, he will deny it forever but he has a lot of sleeping problems due to these night terrors. He has refused therapy, simply because he does not want his aunt to be right. The only person he may hate in the world would be his aunt for separating him and his sister when his father died. If people ask him about his family, he will gush about his adorable baby sister. And lie and say he was raised by his grandmother and that his parents died in a car crash. Again, with the feeling that his problems should not be anyone elses.
He is an internalize, he never actually speaks of things if he can avoid it. He will usually keep all negativity to himself unless he loses his temper. When he loses his temper he shoes another side. He will curse, be brash and tell everyone around him off. It usually takes a lot to get him to that point, but the quickest way to make him mad is senseless bickering when people should be focusing. Like in the middle of a mission, arguing of silliness. He will lose it.
He has a bit of vanity to himself, this boy does not have low self esteem he knows he looks good and he is not above using his looks to get things done. Irony too this vanity and use of his looks is that he has never let anyone close enough to see his much more vulnerable side. he fears letting people too close to his heart because of what happened with his parents. This is also the reason he has shut down any relationship he has had before it could move past first base. The most he's done with a woman is kiss them. Which has made the aforementioned aunt question his sexuality.
He wants to be a ray of light while standing off to the side. He doesn't want to be a leader at all, Mars just wants to help and live his life as best he can.
Powers and Abilities:
He is a level six sorcerer, so he has magic in his blood. However, here is the list of spells he has started off with.

Any other important information (including special inventory items in their possession): He has a familiar in the form of a cat named Venus. She is a playful little thing who he can connect with for up to a mile. He can not see through her eyes but she is a very helpful little helper. He can understand her, but most would likely think hes insane seeing him speak to her.
Why do you think this character would join/work with the Knights?
Mars wants to help people, that's his big thing. He had it pretty good outside of certain events he wont ever willingly talk about unless pushed to it, but I digress. He wants to help make things better for people worse off. And if he can make some money to send to his aunt to help out his baby sister more power too it. So he figured joining the knighthood was probably better for helping people then working retail which was his second choice.
